Grey Nielson
FaultyBoySilver (Grey Nielson) is a young Utah-based guitarist with an expressive stage presence and genre-blending style. He is a two-time DownBeat Music Award Soloist winner. He trained at both Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse and the Mountaintop Music Institute, where he developed a foundation in jazz, rock, grunge, metal, and contemporary improvisation.
Grey recently released his debut single on Spotify, the first part of an upcoming acoustic grunge album inspired by myths, legends, and fairy-tales.
As a bandleader, Grey has led both country and metal music bands to victory at Band Battles, including Highland City’s 2025 Battle of the Bands. His performances have taken him to stages across Utah, Colorado, and California, including Disneyland, the Santa Monica Pier, and the Telluride Jazz Festival. Along the way, he has collaborated with world-class musicians such as Steve Smith (Journey), Tom Malone (The Tonight Show Band), Mike Ward (The Wallflowers), Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band) and members of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, experiences that have further shaped his dynamic and versatile sound.
In addition to his original work, Grey has launched a new collaboration with vocalist Kate Chapman. Together, they a have built a jazz-inspired wedding performance set which includes timeless classics by Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, alongside modern favorites from artists such as Bruno Mars and John Legend.
